al jazeera is pissed

al jazeera will not be broadcast into iraq.

ok, so did he learn nothing from raising his kids? what happens when you deny something desirable from a teenager? they want it even more, and the more the parent fights, the more it becomes about just getting it. not the joy having what is desirable, but just proof that it can be done.

besides if the occupying forces were doing a bang up job, any criticism would fall on deaf ears...we're not doing a "bang-up" job...so the criticism is warranted.

we haven't even talked about the whole censorship/free press issues...

the mind of the elephant

the republican party has such a "not in my backyard mentallity". we all need to sacrifice for the war on terrorism, except halliburton and the 1% who got the tax cut. we believe in fair and open markets, except agriculture and steel, those need subsidies, oh yeah, fair and open in iraq, well open to halliburton. that president lied about his sex life; our president was simply misinformed when he passed along that information in state of the union!

i have been joking that the state medicaid decided to cover our latest pregnancy because the official story we told our parents is it was "immaculately conceived". (three kids, three years, you start to wonder if something isn't funny) see if your the son/daughter of god the republicans will have no problem having the state pay for it.

here's another example of what's good for the goose, isn't for the gander.

START KOS/ATRIOS

"With apologies to Atrios, I'm stealing this post of his. It needs to be trumpeted throughout all corners of the blogosphere (and beyond) -- kos.
This is just unbelievable:
Speaking of contracting out, an administration move to privatize air traffic control at 69 airports has sparked opposition from labor groups, which contend it would compromise safety.
The administration had proposed 71 airports, but House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Don Young (R-Alaska), who supports the effort, got someone to strike the two Alaska airports on the list.
Young, on an Alaska cable TV show a week ago, acknowledged the move generated some heat.
'Of course the criticism of myself,' he said, 'is that I exempted the state of Alaska.' But there were ample reasons for that, he said, ticking off a number of them.
'Lastly,' Young said, 'my hotel room is on the top floor of the Sheraton, and the airplanes take right off towards my hotel room. Every morning I look out and there's one coming right at me. It's an interesting experience and I want to make sure everything is done right in that field.'"

Venezuela has proof Washington was behind failed coup, general - Independent Media TV: "Army Gen. Melvin Lopez, secretary of Venezuela's National Defence Council, said Tuesday 'proof exists' the U.S. administration was involved in the mid-April putsch. He declined to give further details. 'We have the evidence,' Lopez said during an interview broadcast by Venezuela's state-run television channel. "

skippy reports:

a tiger serves as scary metaphor in u.s. "liberation".

START SKIPPY

"a u.s. soldier shot dead a rare bengal tiger at baghdad zoo after the animal injured another soldier who was trying to feed it through the cage bars, the zoo's manager said on saturday.

adil salman mousa told reuters a group of u.s. soldiers were having a party in the zoo on thursday night after it had closed…

the night watchman said the soldiers had arrived in military vehicles but were casually dressed and were drinking beer…

at the tiger's cage, now empty, pools of blood showed that the soldier passed through a first cage intended only for keepers and stood next to the inner cage's narrow bars. "
